Training Heart Rate Range Calculator

To use the calculator, simply enter your age and resting heart rate, then click the Calculate button to see your results.  The calculator always rounds down.  If you are using Netscape, you might see a syntax error message, ignore it and click OK.  Your browser must be Java Script enabled to use the calculator.

Karvonen formula
1. Enter your age
2. Enter your resting heart rate* then press the Calculate  Button:
Your Maximum heart rate is:
Your Minimum training heart rate is:
(55%-of-max)
Your Maximum training heart rate is:
(90%-of-max)
*Take your pulse for one minute the first thing in the morning before getting out of bed

THRR =  [(220 - age) - rhr] x (.55 and .90) + rhr
